Near the end of my pregnancy, I recorded my weight so that I could see how that differed from my weight at the six-week mark.  At 39 weeks of pregnancy, I weighed in at 142.5 pounds.

Now, at the six-week mark, I weigh in at 115 pounds.

In the six weeks since I had my baby, I have done nothing in terms of dieting or exercise to lose any weight. So really, all of the extra weight I was carrying around was mostly baby. Since weight is not an accurate measure of fitness, I will not be as concerned about my weight as I will other things like my measurements, how toned I look, and the size of clothes I am in.

Here are my current measurements.  To take these, I followed the guidelines in this article.  They are as follows:

Bust: 35 inches
Waist: 33 inches
Hips: 35 inches
Thigh: 20 inches
Arm: 10 inches

From my current picture, you can see that my biggest problem area is my stomach.  That has always been my most difficult area to target.  Pilates will give me the results that I’m after, so that’s what I’ll be doing to combat that gelatinous overhang.  My arms, legs, and butt all need to get toned.  Muscle tone is the kind of definition that makes a body look gorgeous.

See what I mean?  This girl does not look anorexic, but fabulous!  Muscle tone is how you get your arms, legs, and butt to look like that.  Before you say to yourself, “Well, there’s no way I could ever look like that,” understand that the right combination of diet and exercise will produce results like that.  I’m not kidding!  It really is possible to have a dream body.

That being said, here are my goals:

Since it has been months since I have exercised (I wasn’t exercising while I was pregnant because I was too nauseous), my goal is to ease into exercise.  I will start out slow and work my way up toward more challenging routines.

My jeans are a size two, and my shirts are a size small.  At my current size, I do not fit into them.  So the first thing I’ll be working toward is fitting into my clothes again.  Once I reach that goal, then I will start working on muscle tone and definition.

As far as diet is concerned, I want to work on getting on a more regular diet, eating about every three hours.  This takes discipline and commitment, and with four young children to take care of all day, I sometimes get so busy that I put off eating.  So this will probably be one of my biggest challenges.  I will start to increase my protein intake, as well as make healthier food choices.

My ultimate goal is to have a dream body, of course.  For me, that means that I can stand in front of a mirror naked and like what I see.  I’ll have toned arms and legs, a firm butt, sexy abs – you get the picture.  Whether or not that means that I will get back down to a size zero like I did when I originally had a dream body is to be determined.

As for a time frame, I have no idea how long it will take me to accomplish this.  Summer is just around the corner, so I doubt that I can look how I want in time to be strutting around in a bikini at the water park, but I’m not going to rule out the possibility!  It’s always nice to be optimistic.

For now, I have shared my goals and will try to accomplish them in a timely manner.  It’s time to get serious.  I want a great body again.  And that takes work.  I’m ready to start!

What about you?  Are you ready?  Let’s start together.
